Mountain Lion on Ledge in Evening Light

Golden evening light wraps the rugged terrain where a mountain lion stands poised on a rocky ledge. The animal's tawny coat glows against the deepening shadows of the midsummer forest. Low-hanging clouds drift across the sky, softening the horizon glow that illuminates the scene from behind. Dense evergreen foliage frames the game trail below, while the cat's muscles remain still in patient anticipation. Dust motes are not visible, but the texture of dry grass and the rough stone surface are sharp under the warm glow. A faint reflection of the sky catches in the dark, alert eye of the predator.
