Morning Routine in Christchurch

Sunlight spills across the wet asphalt of a Christchurch laneway, illuminating a cluster of folding stools stacked near a cafe entrance. Condensation rests on the outside of a glass door, blurring the view of paperbacks stacked inside. A mop leans against the wall, its bristles touching the damp pavement. The scene is busy with local life, as a person in a sun hat walks by, carrying a bag. The early morning light catches the red lacquered wood of a nearby bench, against the grey concrete.
