Mooring Bollards in Vienna

A heavy gray mist blankets the Danube Canal, obscuring the distant brick warehouses and leaving only their dark, wet outlines visible against the pale morning sky. On a stone quay edge, a pair of iron mooring bollards stands firm, their surfaces slick with condensation and reflecting the dull ambient light. Beside the cold metal, a single red lifebuoy hangs from a rusted bracket, its bright color providing the only sharp contrast in the monochrome scene. Water droplets rest on the rough texture of the bollard, slowly merging and sliding down the pitted cast iron into the shadowed crevices below.
