Monk Sweeping Leaves at Winter Dawn

Pale winter light spills across a canal-side temple garden in Ashgabat as a monk in loose robes sweeps fallen leaves. The air is thick with motion, evidenced by the way dry foliage skitters across the stone path and the monk's outer sleeves flutter against the wind. Snow dusts the bare branches of nearby trees, against the dark, wet stones of the walkway. The subject stands near the edge of a third, sweeping a pile of brittle brown leaves into the corner of the frame. Behind him, the calm canal reflects the grey sky, while the rhythmic motion of the broom bristles kicks up small clouds of debris. at the edge is a single leaf caught in the bristles, hovering momentarily before falling.
