Misty Alley in Sapporo

A narrow alley in Sapporo’s Susukino district is swallowed by thick, grey dawn mist, softening the neon glow of a distant ramen shop sign into a hazy blue smear. On a wet concrete step, a small, chipped terracotta bowl sits next to a brass padlock securing a wooden crate, evidence of a late-night delivery. Steam rises from a nearby vent, curling around the rough clay and cold metal, while rain-slicked asphalt reflects the muted city lights. One lantern hangs above, its glass clouded with condensation, casting a faint, warm pool of light on the puddles below.
