Mammatus Clouds Over Philadelphia at Dusk

Copper-toned light washes the western horizon where bulbous mammatus clouds hang beneath a darkening storm base. These pouch-like formations dangle with heavy, rounded edges, creating a rhythmic pattern against the fading sky. Below, the silhouette of distant Philadelphia rooftops anchors the view, their sharp lines resting against the soft, organic shapes above. Bare autumn branches frame the lower left corner, stripped of leaves by the season. Wind blurs the tops of trees along the skyline, their motion visible in the stillness of the capture. A thin band of clear orange sky separates the dark storm from the ground, highlighting the texture of the cloud undersides. The horizon line cuts sharply across the bottom third of the frame.
