Majolica Plates in Valencia

A stack of traditional Valencian majolica plates rests on a sun-bleached wooden stool in a shaded courtyard near the specified GPS coordinates. Bright late morning light strikes the glossy cobalt blue rim of the top plate, highlighting the intricate hand-painted floral motifs against the white ceramic. The stool sits on rough terracotta tiles that show signs of wear and age, at the base of the object in a domestic Spanish setting. Dust motes drift through the air, catching the light above the slightly chipped edge of the lowest plate in the stack.
