The low horizon line shows the curved concrete breakwater of Lyttelton Harbour extending into the calm grey water under a pale first light sky. A solitary red and white harbor beacon stands at the end of the structure, reflecting softly on the still surface. The foreground shows the textured grey pavement of the wharf edge, leading toward the distant hills of Christchurch shrouded in morning mist. A few fishing boats are moored quietly in the background, their masts silhouetted against the brightening sky.
