Warm light spills from the banquet hall entrance onto a brushed steel rack holding laminated cards and folded terry cloth towels. The metal surface reflects the pale service hall spill while casting soft shadows against the wall. Worn plastic clips secure cardboard inserts displaying room assignments in Chinese and English. Cool season air leaves the textures of the terry cloth crisp and the cardboard edges slightly frayed. The rack stands at eye level, its horizontal bars catching the indirect glow bouncing off the cream-colored walls. A shadow from the top bar falls across the lower cards, defining the depth of the stack. The plastic corner of a card peeks out, revealing a printed number.
