A weathered wooden laundry basket sits on the sun-bleached concrete ledge of a San Francisco balcony, its woven texture catching the flat noon light. The basket is filled with folded linens, their striped fabric edges peeking out in muted tones of blue and grey against the bright sky. Behind the basket, a wrought-iron railing frames a glimpse of the city’s steep hills and Victorian rooftops in the distance. One white peony rests loosely on top of the pile, its delicate petals against the rough weave of the basket.
