A dimly lit Melbourne laneway at deep night, where the rough red brick walls of historic Victorian buildings frame a narrow passage. A large fig tree with heavy fruit hangs over a low wall, its leaves catching the warm glow of a solitary lantern mounted on a weathered post. The ground is paved with uneven cobblestones, reflecting the sparse ambient light from a distant streetlamp. A few discarded items, including a crumpled paper bag and a bent umbrella, lie near the base of the tree. The quiet, lived-in texture of the city after hours, with shadows stretching long across the wet pavement and the silhouette of a parked bicycle leaning against a fence in the background.
