A vintage tram rattles past historic Art Nouveau facades in Christchurch during the late hours of the night. The street is wet from recent rain, reflecting the yellow glow of streetlights on the flagstones. Pedestrians hurry along the sidewalk, carrying umbrellas and thermoses against the cool air. A university student crosses the wet flagstones near a cloister, while a cherry tree canopy in full white bloom frames the scene above. The tram's headlights cut through the darkness, illuminating the intricate details of the buildings.
