Under the harsh glare of a single fluorescent tube, a street vendor in Hyderabad works late into the night, his hands busy over a metal counter. A worn tool apron hangs from his waist, pockets bulging with small implements including a sharp awl used for puncturing dough. Beside him, a thick hand towel is draped over a metal rail, its frayed edge catching the light. A plastic soap bottle sits near the sink, stained with years of use.
