The equipment rests on a plush velvet chair with deep, worn creases in its dark fabric. Late autumn shadows stretch softly across the floorboards, suggesting a quiet moment inside a Damascus home. Polished plastic surfaces on the stick catch tiny, sharp highlights where the skylight strikes directly. The ball sits nestled in the netting, its texture against the soft, dense pile of the chair. Dust motes hover in the beams of light above the net, while the wooden shaft of the stick shows a faint, smooth grain against the rich, dark upholstery.
