Wet stone pavement reflects the muted gray sky and the artist's focused posture along Calle Jaen. A thin sheet of gold leaf catches the late afternoon light, shimmering against the artist's dark clothing. Fine droplets of a light drizzle bead on the lacquer surface and the artist's protective sleeve. The subject works at the very edge of the frame, their hands steady as they press the metal onto the curved vessel. Behind them, the blurred architecture of La Paz rises in earthy tones of adobe and brick. Raindrops rest on the rim of a metal bowl nearby, mirroring the sky. The gold flake rests precisely on the dark, glossy curve of the lacquerware.
