The Kaohsiung Metro train pulls into the station platform as twilight deepens the sky outside. Colorful geometric murals line the tiled walls, reflecting the bright interior lights onto the wet floor. Commuters wait near the yellow safety line, some checking phones, others looking toward the arriving doors. The train’s headlights cut through the dimming station air, illuminating dust on the rim of a nearby trash bin. Overhead, the station’s industrial ceiling structure is visible against the fading light. The busy transition between day and night in this Taiwanese city, with the art-adorned station serving as a vibrant backdrop to the daily commute.
