A translucent jam jar sits on a weathered kitchen counter in a Marseille apartment, its glass surface catching the warm glow of distant sodium streetlights. The label, partially peeled and worn, reveals the sticky residue of old fruit preserves beneath the grime of daily use. Shadows stretch across the tiled backsplash, showing the rough texture of the ceramic tiles and the condensation beading on the cool glass. One dried lemon slice rests against the jar's base, its brittle edges against the smooth, curved shoulder of the container.
