Hungarian Construction Permit Board at Dawn
Mist rests on the weathered plywood surface of a temporary permit board mounted on an active construction deck in Hungary. Red revision clouds circle handwritten notes, while inspection stickers in Hungarian script peel slightly at the corners. Laminated route maps, pinned by trade workers, hang limp against the damp wood. Cool gray light falls through the pre-sunrise fog, softening the edges of the paper and the metal fasteners. Ground fog pools in the low spaces between the deck planks, creating a hazy depth that fades into the distance. Converging lines of the construction framework lead toward a vanishing point where the mist thickens. The wood grain absorbs the moisture, showing dark, saturated patches where the rain has touched. One staple bends under the weight of a heavy map corner.
