A street vendor in a heavy wool coat tends to a wooden cart on a snow-dusted Krakow sidewalk, the midday sun casting sharp, long shadows across the grey pavement. Steam rises vigorously from the open lid of a large metal pot, catching the light in a bright white plume that contrasts with the dark, wet asphalt. The vendor uses a pair of long metal tongs to adjust skewers of sizzling meat, the action frozen in a moment of routine care. Behind the cart, the red brick facade of a historic tenement building provides a textured backdrop, its windows reflecting the overcast sky.
