Giant Teacup Pool in Bologna Stilt Village

Sunlight falls through dense late summer leaves, casting dappled shadows across a surreal architectural space inside a Bologna skylit passageway. A massive teacup, scaled to the size of a swimming pool, dominates the center of the composition. Surrounding this impossible vessel, a fishing village built on stilts stretches over water, its wooden pilings and small structures rendered with gritty authenticity. Low-hanging clouds press against the upper edges of the passageway, while converging lines of the architecture guide toward a distant vanishing point. The water reflects the white ceramic curves of the cup and the rough textures of the wooden stilts alike. One beam of light strikes the rim of the teacup, highlighting the contrast between the smooth porcelain and the weathered wood.
