Steel-blue ambient light washes the cinderblock wall of a checkpoint lane in Toluca de Lerdo, where a metal signal flare cabinet stands mounted against the rough gray masonry. Early evening fog softens the distant horizon, clinging to the wet asphalt that reflects the overhead fluorescent spill. Red and green flare canisters rest inside the glass-fronted locker, their colors muted by the damp air. A concrete barrier stretches into the background, creating strong leading lines that guide the gaze toward the sealed door. Rain droplets bead on the cabinet's metal frame, and the damp texture of the wall absorbs the artificial glow. at the edge is a small puddle reflecting the flickering light near the base of the barrier.
