Ferns in New Orleans

A cluster of potted ferns rests on a weathered wrought-iron balcony rail, their fronds catching the faint gray light of a misty New Orleans dawn. The dark metalwork is textured with layers of peeling green paint, revealing rusted iron beneath the chipped surface of the historic structure. Condensation beads on the leaves of the nearest plant, reflecting the diffuse ambient glow that falls through the heavy morning fog. One droplet rests on the tip of a broad leaf, suspended against the blurred backdrop of the quiet street below.
