A narrow alley in Essaouira glows under the harsh orange sodium of a streetlamp and the cool blue spill from a nearby café window. In the foreground, a weathered wooden door frame holds a rusted metal hook, beside which rests a small brass kalimba, its keys catching the ambient light. A table fan sits idle on a low stone ledge, its plastic grille reflecting the neon sign above. The ground is paved with uneven grey stones, darkened by recent moisture, leading toward a shadowed doorway where a single bedside lamp illuminates a stack of folded textiles.
