Evening Light on Bicycle

A bicycle leans against the rough, sun-bleached stucco wall of a South Congress Avenue taco stand, its basket tangled with a dried vine from a nearby hanging planter. The summer evening light is thick and golden, spilling across the pavement and catching the crazed majolica glaze of a decorative tile embedded in the wall’s base. Inside the open kitchen window, a kitchen utensil rests on a counter, blurred by the heat haze, while a paper lantern hangs limply above the service hatch, unlit but colorful against the deepening blue sky.
