Erzurum Lab Dawn Light on Science Boards

Pale dawn light slips across the linoleum floor of a computer lab beside science fair boards. Rows of dark monitors reflect the soft gray sky, their screens off. Science fair posters with diagrams and charts line the walls, displaying student projects in Turkish script. Fluorescent fixtures cast a cool, even glow that competes with the warm orange hue of the morning sun. Dust motes float in the shafts of light hitting the carpet near the windows. One chair sits tilted slightly back at the front desk, its metal legs catching the dim room light. Lamplight settles into the far corners where shadows lengthen. A reflection of a window frame rests on the black screen of the nearest monitor.
