Drying Rack in Sapporo

A stainless steel drying rack stands on the cold tiled counter of a Sapporo kitchen, holding dripping wooden spoons under the pale morning light. Condensation beads on the windowpane behind the rack, blurring the view of a gray, wet street outside where snow still rests on the eaves. The cool air is visible as faint breath rising from a steaming mug of coffee placed near the edge of the sink.
