Neon signs in Arabic script cast a cool blue spill onto the damp limestone pavement of a Jabal Al-Weibdeh side street, where a small open-front café buzzes with late-night life. Two men in light jackets sit on wooden bar stools at a narrow counter, leaning in over steaming cups of cardamom coffee, their faces illuminated by the warm amber glow of a hanging filament bulb. Behind them, a florist’s display window reveals bundles of fresh parsley and mint, against the dark glass. A wicker basket sits empty on the floor near the entrance, catching the street’s ambient reflection.
