Cool morning light spills across the uneven travertine facade of a historic Bologna portico, illuminating a cluster of stacked wooden crates near a bakery entrance. Inside the top crate, a woven basket holds several dragon fruits, their bright magenta skins contrasting sharply with the pale, weathered wood and the cool grey stone of the archway. One, scuffed painted wood chair sits nearby, its cushion faded from years of sun and rain, resting against the textured masonry.
