Door Handle And Storage Tins in Dublin
by Sandra Giles
Mist rests on the damp cobblestones of a narrow Dublin laneway as a rusted iron door handle stands slightly ajar against peeling lime-washed stucco. A stack of faded green storage tins rests precariously on a wet wooden crate in the foreground, their surfaces marked by dried enamel drips and years of neglect. The rough texture of the ancient brickwork contrasts with the smooth, cold metal of the door frame, at the base of the scene in centuries of urban layering. One drop of condensation falls from a rusted gutter, catching the faint grey light before vanishing into the shadowed alley below.
