Domestic Detritus in Cartagena
Under the harsh glare of a sodium streetlamp, a corner of a worn Caribbean balcony reveals a cluster of domestic detritus against peeling colonial stucco. A chipped blue and white porcelain bowl sits precariously on a rusted metal railing, its glaze reflecting the neon spill from a nearby bar sign below. The foreground is dominated by the rough texture of weathered wooden shutters, partially obscuring a pair of faded canvas shoes left to dry on the concrete floor. One soap bubble, iridescent and perfect, drifts from a nearby drain, caught in the cross-breeze that lifts the hem of a drying shirt hanging in the shadows.
