A narrow passage in Osaka’s Namba district glows with the diffuse, flat light of a winter noon, revealing a cluster of stacked cardboard boxes beside a closed shutter. A small, chipped ceramic bowl with a blue floral pattern sits precariously on the top box, holding a single, forgotten salt shaker. The rough, damp concrete floor reflects the muted gray sky, against the smooth, glazed surface of the porcelain. A frayed door mat lies half-unfurled near the threshold, its fibers matted with winter grit.
