Dining Items in Budapest
by Anna Shaw
On a narrow Balaton-side terrace in late summer evening light, a weathered wooden table holds a cluster of used dining items including a ceramic dish rack with wet plates and a stack of aluminum muffin tins. Behind this foreground arrangement, a rusted iron window fan rests against a lime-washed wall, partially obscuring a view of the darkening lake through a lattice of hanging laundry. The scene is anchored by visible local proof in the form of traditional Hungarian floral-patterned tablecloths and the distinct orange stucco texture of the nearby building facade. A sudden gust catches the edge of a red napkin, lifting it slightly as the first stars reflect off the still water in the background.
