Decorated Trolley in Chittagong Blue Hour Festival
by Frank Pena
Cool blue twilight washes the public square in Chittagong, casting a uniform gray-blue hue over the wet pavement and low-hanging clouds. A vintage trolley, stripped of its usual urban grime, stands as the centerpiece, its metal body draped in strings of warm orange and red paper lanterns. The festive decorations glow faintly against the encroaching night, creating small pools of amber light on the darkened tracks. Surrounding the trolley, indistinct figures in dark clothing cluster near the curb, their forms softened by the dim light. The sky above is a heavy blanket of charcoal and steel, pressing down on the square. In the background, the silhouette of a colonial-era building anchors the scene, its windows dark against the fading sky. at the edge is the reflection of a single lantern on a puddle near the front wheel, shattering the blue monotony with a jagged streak of orange.
