A folded wooden deck chair sits empty on a wet cobblestone quay, leaning slightly against a rusted iron mooring bollard under the glow of streetlamps. The dark wood planks of the seat reflect the amber sodium light, against the deep blue shadows of the canal water nearby. One plastic shopping bag rests on the floor beside the chair, caught in the damp air of the night. Water droplets rest on the metal hinges, catching the city light like small scattered jewels.
