Dawn Tennis Baseline With Arrows On Madrid Hillside

Grey morning light settles over a clay tennis baseline on a hillside near Chamberi in Madrid. Dozens of spent wooden arrows lie scattered across the green court surface, their fletchings matted with damp winter grass. Turf spray and kicked-up grit hang suspended in the air, catching the soft diffused glow of first dawn. The white boundary lines cut sharply through the muted browns and dormant vegetation. Behind the court, the steep slope of the hill rises into the grey haze. Shadows stretch long and soft across the clay without harsh edges. A lone tennis ball rests near the net post, its fuzzy yellow surface dull against the cool grey sky.
