The horizon glows with the first pale light of dawn over the dense cluster of red tile roofs and stucco walls in Oaxaca City. Below, the narrow streets are dimly lit by the warm yellow cast of sodium streetlamps, which reflect off the wet cobblestones from a recent night rain.
