The first grey light of nautical dawn falls through the iron balcony railings of a Haussmann building, illuminating a bustling corner stall in the Marais district. A vendor arranges fresh baguettes in a woven basket while a customer, wrapped in a wool coat, smiles warmly as they exchange coins. A small wooden stool sits nearby, occupied by a sleeping cat curled against the vendor’s leg. The cobblestones glisten with morning dew, reflecting the warm glow from the stall’s hanging bulb.
