Cyclist Paused in Wellington

A busy Wellington street corner in winter noon light, where the harsh sun casts sharp shadows across wet pavement. A cyclist in a high-vis jacket pauses at a crosswalk, their leather basketball helmet resting on the handlebars, catching a glint of light. Behind them, a cafe window displays a row of potted succulents on the sill, their fleshy leaves against the grey stone facade. Inside, through the glass, a metronome ticks silently on a piano bench, its pendulum blurred by motion. Pedestrians hurry past, their breath visible in the cold air, while a pulley system for a nearby awning hangs limp against the bright sky.
