Under the mixed glow of sodium streetlamps and neon signage reflecting off wet pavement, a cyclist pauses beside a brick wall in the Arts Centre precinct. The front basket of their bicycle, woven with weathered wicker, holds a single potted geranium with deep crimson blooms, its leaves catching the harsh overhead light. Leaning against the wall nearby, a pair of wooden-handled brooms rests in a puddle, their bristles dark with moisture. The sharp geometric lines of a nearby tram stop, where the caster wheel of a passing luggage trolley glints in the distance.
