A sun-bleached balcony in Södermalm features a cramped arrangement of potted zinnias in bright reds and oranges, their petals catching the flat noon glare. A stack of dog-eared paperbacks rests on the wrought-iron railing, pages fluttering slightly in the breeze. Below, the busy intersection of Liljeholmsvägen shows a blur of red buses and cyclists moving past the historic brick facades.
