A Carolina Dog stands alert on a worn dirt path where a garden edge meets open space. The dog's coat shows a distinct ticked pattern of black and tan hairs, and its large, folded ears frame a wedge-shaped muzzle. Soft morning light falls through heavy overcast clouds, casting the animal in deep shadow while a faint rim of light traces the curve of its back and the tips of its tail. The ground is scattered with fallen leaves from the turning season, and the background remains uncluttered with blurred greenery.
