Canary Island Lanes Through Greenhouse Grids
by Beau Frost
Bright late morning light floods the landscape, revealing a vast grid of white plastic greenhouses stretching across the Canary Islands terrain. Narrow country lanes cut sharp, dark lines through the geometric fields, creating a stark cartographic pattern. The air has cleared after a storm, leaving the surfaces of the plastic sheets gleaming with fresh water droplets that catch the sun. Shadows from the greenhouse frames fall short and crisp, defining the depth of the structures. Patches of dry, reddish earth remain visible between the white blocks, against the vibrant green of young plants peeking through tears in the coverings. The composition follows a strict rule of thirds, balancing the dense grid against the open sky and the winding road that leads toward the horizon. A cluster of droplets on the nearest greenhouse ridge refracts the sky into a tiny, distorted blue circle.
