Cake Stand Crate in Kuala Lumpur Hotel Before Dawn

Pale resort daylight reaches the back counter of a hotel lobby in Chinatown, Kuala Lumpur, while the foreground stays in deep shadow. A wooden crate repurposed as a wedding cake stand rests on the polished surface, catching a soft projector glow against the dark walls. Warm interior shadows pool along the base of the counter and under the crate's slats. The turn of seasons appears in the cool, muted light mixing with the warm tones of the wood. The projector beam falls across the dark surfaces, highlighting the texture of the crate and the smooth finish of the counter. A sharp edge of light marks the boundary between the illuminated back wall and the shadowed foreground.
