Rain streaks the glass of a small bakery window in Venice as dusk settles over the narrow canal-side street. Inside, a vendor in a 1970s style cardigan hands a loaf of bread to a customer holding a colorful deck of cards, perhaps for a game later. Outside, the cracked painted stucco of the building facade weeps under the light rain, reflecting in the wet cobblestones. A stone bench nearby is draped with a patterned blanket, untouched but lived-in. The candid, busy rhythm of daily life, with a vintage mailbox standing sentinel by the door, blending the mundane with the historic texture of the city.
