Bristol Blue Hour Floodgate Chamber Algae Concrete and Harbor Water

by Dmitri Briggs

The concrete walls of the floodgate chamber rise steeply on either side, their surfaces heavily streaked with green and brown algae that catch the fading blue light of the evening sky. Above the structure, the dark silhouette of the harbor area is visible, where distant lights begin to twinkle along the waterfront. The water within the channel appears still and reflective, mirroring the deep indigo tones of the twilight. A metal railing runs along the top edge of the concrete, leading toward the open harbor beyond. The industrial texture of the infrastructure against the soft, natural transition of dusk in Bristol.
