Bookseller Stacked Books Masvingo Arcade Noon

Brick arches frame a narrow walkway in Masvingo where a bookseller stands with arms crossed, eyes fixed forward with fierce determination. Shelves stacked from floor to ceiling overflow with paperbacks and hardcovers in muted reds, blues, and creams. The dry season air leaves the surfaces dust-free and sharp. Noon light floods the arcade in a flat, white glare that washes out deep shadows, turning the book spines into a wall of uniform texture. Rain has just stopped, leaving a sheen on the concrete floor that reflects the bright overhead sky. One blue book lies open on the counter, its pages catching the harsh light against the dark wood grain.
