Blue hour street scene in Hoi An Vietnam with laundry and lanterns
by Ivy Enriquez
The deepening blue of twilight settles over a narrow alley in Hoi An, casting long shadows against the warm ochre walls of ancient shophouses. Strings of colorful paper lanterns hang low above the cobblestone path, their soft glow reflecting off the damp ground. On the left, a woman hangs wet laundry on a line stretched between two balconies, using bright plastic clothespins to secure the shirts and trousers. A small brass bell hangs from the eaves of a nearby shop, catching the last light. In the background, a vendor adjusts a stack of folded umbrellas near a doorway, while potted geraniums in terracotta pots add splashes of red near the entrance of a café.
