Blue Hour Freeway Interchange South Korea

by Colleen Savage

Steel-blue ambient light blankets a sprawling freeway interchange high above winding river meanders in South Korea. Vehicles appear as continuous streams of red taillights and white headlights, tracing complex loops and ramps that cut through the low clouds. The sky shows patches of clearing where faint stars emerge against the deepening twilight. Concrete pillars support the elevated roadways, casting long, soft shadows across the asphalt. Below, the dark water reflects the faint glow of the city lights. The layered depth of the infrastructure recedes into the distance, creating a geometric contrast with the organic curves of the river. A final bridge railing glints with the last reflection of the fading sun.
