Black Cat in Barcelona
by Nora Lang
A narrow Barcelona alleyway glows under the harsh sodium vapor of a streetlamp, casting long, distorted shadows against the weathered stucco of a traditional building. In the foreground, a wrought-iron gate stands slightly ajar, revealing a glimpse of a dimly lit interior where a black cat sits perched on a windowsill, its eyes reflecting the ambient orange spill. Outside, the wet cobblestones glisten, mirroring the neon sign of a nearby bar that buzzes with electric blue light. One ladder-back chair rests against the wall, abandoned and slightly tilted, bearing the marks of countless evenings spent in the cool night air.
