Bicycle Rack in Boston at The Late Morning Light

A stone archway constructed of weathered granite frames a cluster of bicycles locked to a metal rack on a damp sidewalk. The late morning light reflects off the wet pavement, highlighting the red brick pathways typical of the Boston University campus. Several commuters stand near the entrance, adjusting umbrellas and backpacks while waiting for a connection. The archway’s masonry shows signs of age and exposure to the elements, at the base of the scene in the historic architecture of Massachusetts. Pedestrians move through the background, their movements blurred slightly by the casual pace of the morning rush. The bicycles are secured with various types of locks, adding everyday utility to the composition.
